tollywood: Most desirable woman on TV: Varshini Sounderajan | Telugu Movie News

It was in 2014 that Varshini made her Tollywood debut with the National Award-winning film Chandamama Kathalu. After acting in a string of films, she found her true calling in television. “It was my dream to be in front of the camera and entertain people. TV is so much fun. We work long hours but it’s totally worth it and I enjoy every second that I’m working for television,” says the Hyderabad girl who is now “living her dream” as the host of popular dance reality show Dhee 10.
Her instagram page, boasting of over 3,72,000 followers and counting, bears testimony to the raw sensuality that she flaunts through scorching photoshoots. Whether she’s frolicking around in a two-piece bikini in Langkawi Islands or flashing a come hither smile clad in a designer saree, she’s sexy and she knows it! That’s precisely why Varshini has been crowned the first ever Hyderabad Times Most Desirable Woman on Television 2017. In a tete-e-tete with Hyderabad Times, the model- turned-actress-turned-TV anchor opens up about her journey from being a chubby girl to a small screen heartthrob. Excerpts:

How does it feel to be named Hyderabad Times Most Desirable Woman on Television?

It’s a surreal feeling. Although I cannot fathom what it is that people have found in me that makes me the most desirable woman, it’s a great feeling. I’m happy and humbled at the same time.

What do you think is the most desirable thing about you?

You tell me? (laughs). To be honest, I’m still surprised. My mantra has always been simple: To be myself and be confident in the way I speak, act and dress. That’s the only mantra that I have followed, perhaps it boils down to that.

You surely have carved a niche for yourself as a style icon with your appearances onscreen and racy photoshoots on social media. How big a role do you think fashion sense plays in desirability stakes?

I think it plays a big role. And I feel in this regard, my modelling career helped me a great deal. I take a lot of care about my clothes and I feel the way you dress projects your personality in a way. During my modelling stint, I learned the importance of dressing well, speaking well and being confident in your own skin. It’s not just about good looks but your overall personality that’s important and I’ve always focused on that.

What is the thing you find most desirable in a man?

Oh, there are plenty of things — it’s hard to zero in on just one (laughs). But the most important thing that I look for in a man is that he should have a good sense of humour. I find that most appealing in men.

What is your fitness regime like? What do you do to stay in shape?

I do a lot of yoga. Earlier I used to be a bit chubby but then I started doing power yoga and it made a world of difference. Yoga has helped me immensely and it makes me feel good — both physically and mentally.

Did you ever resort to extreme measures to lose weight, like some of the youngsters do these days?

I admit I used to do that when I was a teenager. But when you grow up, you realise that all of that doesn’t matter. You can’t just be stylish and good looking. You also have to be smart and mature. Unless you are intelligent, you cannot take good decisions, no matter how good looking you

are. So it’s important for young girls not to take extreme measures to get in shape. They must instead focus on their overall health, well-being and improving their personality.

Will we see you in Tollywood again?

There are a few offers and I will be a doing a film with Sudheer Babu as the second lead. But television is the best thing that has happened to me and I won’t be leaving it anytime soon.
