Popular Bollywood cinematographer Kabir Lal who has films like Taal, Pardes, Apne, Michael Madhana Kama Rajan to his credit is turning a filmmaker with the remake of the Spanish horror thriller Julia’s Eyes.
The movie was critically acclaimed and a box office hit collecting $20 million in Spain alone. Now, Kabir is bringing it to Indian audiences.
Talking about his debut venture, Kabir said, “Julia’s Eyes has an interesting screenplay and the story would go well with any type of audience. Having worked in many Telugu films as well like Andarivaadu, Bairava Deepam etc, I want to try my hand in Telugu and Tamil initially. Later, I might think of other languages.” At a time when CG was not in vogue, Kabir’s camera did magic with four roles of Kamal Haasan on screen in Michael Madhana Kama Rajan.
Though he would not commit on who he would cast in the coveted female oriented script in a double role, our sources said a big star who has a solid market in K’town as well as in Tollywood in being approached.
It’s a story of a woman who is slowly losing her sight whilst trying to investigate the mysterious death of her already blind identical twin sister.
