Shailendra Singh: After kick-starting 23 successful startups, Shailendra Singh now wants to revolutionise entertainment industry

Shailendra Singh is moving on from his past laurels at Percept by launching new entrepreneurial ventures from India, for the world.

After kick-starting 23 successful startups in his career, entertainment maverickturned-social entrepreneur, Singh wants to revolutionise entertainment and sports by 2020 through disruptive creative content.

Now represented by Boss India Entertainment LLP, Singh brings with him 32 years of game-changing entertainment, media and communications legacy. While at the helm of Percept Ltd as joint managing director, Singh was responsible for launching Percept Picture Company, which consistently ranked in India’s top five studios.

He was awarded 12 National Awards, 180 commercial awards, and was ranked the 12th most powerful player in Bollywood.

A kick-starter

Singh launched Percept Talent Management, one of India’s first global and local talent management companies representing 300+ celebrities across sports, movies, music and fashion. A cricketer at heart, he also represented nine out of 11 Indian national cricket team players. Always a few steps ahead, Singh was also the brains behind an experiential marketing company, Percept D’Mark, and an entertainment content marketing company, P9.

While creating and selling over 2,400 campaigns, he also planned media solutions for over 320 brands valued at $2.4 billion. He has to his credit the launch of one of India’s first and largest sports marketing management companies, which won endorsements for clients valued at $3.2+ billion, including the Sahara sponsorship of the national cricket team.

Let the music play

Singh, who has conceptualised and executed over 2,000 live entertainment events, founded electronic dance music festival Sunburn in 2007. In 10 years, he nurtured it to become the third largest in the world and the second-only intellectual property to be exported from India.

And through it all, he strived to give back, launching, associating with or donating to over 55 different charitable organisations. He has organised over 750 events to raise funds and create awareness for various causes, ranging from AIDS, National Association of the Blind, education and disaster relief.

On a roll

Singh is now ready for the next milestones in his journey, combining three decades of experience, skills, networks and resources. He will bring his unlimited exposure to the Indian market, consumer clients, brands and talents to advise, nurture and create game-changing intellectual properties, innovative solutions and creative products.

Building on his work in corporate social responsibility and philanthropy, Singh supports the global movement of Guestlist4Good, redefining entertainment for the education of Indian children. Guestlist4Good allows artistes a chance to give back to their fans and to nearly 84 million Indian children that do not attend school.

With a strong focus on catering to the youth and digitally connected population in the world, other endeavours to be expected from Singh include redefined content creation, sport intellectual property creation, writing and directing feature films and short films, live event innovation, startup accelerator mentorship and his most awaited project, the World’s Biggest Guestlist 2020, which will be 20 concerts across 20 cities.
