Samsung is reportedly working on an entry-level Android Go phone to launch very soon. Looks like, the upcoming Android Go phone from Samsung is the company’s answer to Xiaomi’s ultra-affordable Redmi 5A or Desh ka smartphone. A new report reveals that the upcoming Samsung Android Go phone will be specifically for four markets, including India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh and most likely be called the Galaxy J2 Core. According to earlier reports, the upcoming Android Go phone from Samsung — SM-J260G will come with 1GB RAM, similar to that of the other existing Android Go phones like the Nokia 1.
Last month, the Galaxy J2 Core Android Go phone made its way to the benchmarking site – Geekbench hinting at the imminent launch. The benchmark listing revealed some of the key specifications that the smartphone may come packed with. The Geekbench listing had confirmed the name of the phone to be Galaxy J2 Core — SM-J260G — and revealed that it will run on Google’s Android Go platform, which means there are chances that it would run an almost stock version of Android.
As of yet, not much is known about the Samsung’s first Android Go edition phone. But, now, with the new report coming in from SamMobiles, information regarding the availability of the phone have been revealed. It is said that the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core will mainly focus to target the Indian customers looking out for an Android phone at an ultra-affordable price tag. Alongside India, Samsung is reportedly focusing to bring the phone to three other markets — Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. All the four countries have traditionally been markets where Samsung debuts most of its budget offerings like the Galaxy J-series phones. So far, the South Korean smartphone manufacturer had used Tizen OS for its devices running with 1GB RAM or less memory. And with Tizen, Samsung has more or less managed to offer quite a good performance.
