Redmi Y2 (Mi Y2), Lenovo Z5, Moto G6, Redmi 6 and More: Top 7 Budget Phones Running Android 8.0 Oreo

Budget smartphones often do not come running the latest operating system as manufacturers give extended privileges to flagship devices. That is an unfair exchange for buyers as it means that they will have to pay extra to buy a flagship but they will only be guaranteed software updates for a couple of years and even that they’ll have to wait months for. However, there are budget phones that come with Android 8.0 Oreo installed and fetch a smaller price. Here are seven devices you should check out.

Redmi Y2 (Mi Y2)

It was obvious that Xiaomi smartphones such as the Redmi Y2 were to be included in this list. The OS running on the smartphone is Android 8.0 Oreo, and for a device that starts at just Rs. 9999, that is quite a shock, to be honest. The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 comes with a 5.99-inch HD+ display and is powered by a Snapdragon 625 chipset. You also get 3GB RAM and the phone features a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. Other features include a 16MP front selfie camera with a soft LED flash and a 12 + 5MP dual rear camera setup all paired with a 3080mAh battery.

Redmi 6

The Redmi 6 just got announced and it is one of the cheapest devices to come running with Android Oreo. Xiaomi has outdone itself once more. The smartphone comes with a non-removable 3,000mAh battery, along with a MediaTek P22 chipset that is housing an octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone also comes with a fingerprint reader and ships with 16GB of internal storage. The display size of the phone measures at 5.45 inches and comes with a 12 + 5MP AI dual-camera setup and a 5MP shooter for selfies.

Redmi 6A

Another affordable smartphone from Xiaomi based on Android Oreo is the Redmi 6A. The smartphone features MediaTek’s Helio A22 chipset, which is running a quad-core Cortex-A53 at 2GHz. The smartphone also comes with 2GB of RAM, a 13MP primary camera, and a 5MP secondary camera. The smartphone also features a rear-facing fingerprint sensor and the phone is loaded with a 3000mAh battery and 16GB of expandable internal storage. As for the display size, it is a 5.5-inch HD screen.

Lenovo Z5

Despite the number of lies that Lenovo spoke about the Z5 prior to its launch, the smartphone is still a decent one if you check out its price tag and the hardware specifications outfitted in the phone. The phone is running Android Oreo, comes with a Snapdragon 636, with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The 3300mAh battery might not give you 45 days of standby battery time, but at least 4-5 days if you’re monitoring the usage correctly.

RealMe 1

The RealMe 1 belongs to OPPO’s phone subsidiary that launched its first device in India. Apart from running Android Oreo and featuring an affordable price tag, the smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset and 3GB of RAM. The smartphone also comes with a 6-inch Full HD+ display and ships with 32GB of expandable internal storage space. You can also find a 13MP rear and an 8MP front-facing shooter, with the battery capacity being 3410mAh.

Moto G6

Motorola’s Moto G series are affordable and are running near-stock Android user interfaces. The Moto G6 is a less powerful version of smartphones that you have seen in this list but it is still capable and comes with decent specifications. It features a Snapdragon 450, 3GB RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, a dual-rear-camera setup of 12 + 5MP and a large 5.7-inch display.

Nokia 6 (2018) or Nokia 6.1

The upgraded Snapdragon 630-powered Nokia 6 (2018) or Nokia 6.1 further improves upon the original Nokia 6. It comes with the same premium body that is very well built but most importantly, it provides buyers an opportunity to experience Android Oreo without spending too much money in return. It has a 1080p IPS display in a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 3000mAh battery.
