Rajinikanth, superstar of Tamil cinema, is all set for the release of his upcoming film Kaala. But as the release date of the film is nearing, the big question that the people of Tamil Nadu have is the release date of Rajini’s political party.
On December 31, Rajini had announced that he is going to enter politics and converted his welfare association into the Rajini Makkal Mandram. Over the months, the party has appointed district as well as youth secretaries and has been adding members from the grassroots level.
During the audio launch of Kaala on May 9, Rajini said, “Important part that media is waiting..what to do kanna? The time has still not come and when the time comes the announcement will be made. There is responsibility towards the Tamil Nadu. The people of TN will have a good future soon.”
As Rajini tries to maintain his cards close to the chest, Rajini Makkal Mandram secretary Raju Mahalingam has said that the name and flag of Rajinikanth’s party will be unveiled soon.
Appointments to almost all district units have been completed. It has also been informed that Rajini will soon be meeting the women’s wing of RMM. This comes after the meeting with district secretaries and youth wing secretaries which was held last week.
Sources close to Rajini also added that announcement is likely to happen only after the release of Kaala on June 7.

The Rajini Makkal Mandram has already been using the popular ‘apana
mudra’ which was introduced to the people of Tamil Nadu through Rajini’s film Baba in 2002, where the thumb is used to hold down the ring and middle fingers.
Also, the snake used in the symbol which Rajini had said represents the Kundalini signifies divinity and static energy that supports life.
Thalaivar has already said that his politics will be spiritual politics, which is very similar to the Hindutva politics of the BJP. Will his political party have a better future than the BJP, which has less than 3 percent vote share in the state?
BJP National Secretary H Raja said, “The superstar of India is Shri Narendra Modiji, the PM of India. Rajinikanth is yet to declare his party, the policies of the party with regard to the spiritual politics. BJP has travelled too long towards that direction.”
It is not just the BJP, but the AIADMK too has been critical of Rajini’s political entry. AIADMK fisheries Minister D Jayakumar said, “Just like how Kaalan (mushroom) sprouts when it rains what is happening now is the same. Rajini can never be MGR.”
Till date, the superstar has been successful in giving many box office hits but will his new avatar – as a politician – give him a state office victory?
