Brazil midfielder Fred deleted a tweet on Sunday night that confirmed he was in Manchester as Manchester United close in on a £52million deal for the Shakhtar Donetsk star.

The 25-year-old was a second half substitute in Brazil’s 2-0 win against Croatia in Liverpool on Sunday and he admitted after the game that he was leaving the matter of his future down to his agent.

‘I’ll still talk to my agents to find out the reality of it,’ he told Brazilian newspaper Globo.

‘I want to focus only on the team. It’s a unique time, the World Cup. We have to try to forget things from outside.’

United are keen to use Fred’s appearance in the north-west to get his move done now, rather than waiting until after the World Cup.

And it looks as though the wait may be coming to an end for United fans as Fred’s tweet on Sunday night confirmed he was now in Manchester.

Manchester United target deletes tweet after dropping HUGE hint at £52m transfer

The Brazil squad were staying in Liverpool so United fans were understandably excited that Fred had made the 40-mile journey across to Manchester.

However, the midfielder quickly deleted the tweet when he saw in the comments that he had left his location on and he re-sent the post without a location a few minutes later.

Supporters, though, noticed Fred’s mistake and quickly got excited about his imminent arrival.

United are hopeful of completing the £52m move in the next 48 hours and Fred is set to sign a four-year deal at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian’s arrival is set to be the first of up to four incomings for Jose Mourinho’s squad this summer.

The Portuguese boss wants a full-back, a centre-back and a back-up forward for Romelu Lukaku.
