With just 48 hours to the release of Rajinikanth-starrer Kaala, Rajini mania has truly gripped Chennai. From T-shirts, coffee mugs, to cakes and posters, the Kaala craze is for all to see.

Joining the bandwagon is a unique drink for superstar fans. Wire Room, a newly-launched lounge bar in Chennai, had just the perfect timing with the release of Kaala.

A cocktail paying a tribute to Thalaivar is the latest addition to the menu. An image of the superstar is created on the frothy drink, which comes in virgin and alcoholic versions.

The drink is aptly titled ‘Magizchi’, taking its cue from the famous dialogue in the movie Kabali.

Talking about how the team zeroed in on the drink, Karthik Palaniappan, head of business and operations at the Wire Room said, “When we curated a cocktail list for Wire Room, we came up with things that are related to Madras. So we have a drink named Marina [after the popular beach in Chennai]. So when we talk about Madras, we cannot leave out Rajnikanth. That’s how we came up with this idea.”

Fans of Rajnikanth are excited about Kaala’s release.

The cocktail is a concoction made with forgotten ingredients of Madras that include ginger, karupatti (palm jaggery) syrup, egg whites, with a dash of lime. The image of Thalaivar is then created on the drink with help of a stencil by dusting cinnamon powder.

The group chose over 250 images of the actor before zeroing on the iconic image from super hit movie Baasha with his trademark sunglasses.

However, the challenge for the team was to find a person who could do the stencil and bring to life their vision. Karthik also added that they scouted for over 50 artists in the city before they chose the final one.

Priced at Rs 600 for the alcoholic version and Rs 250 for the mocktail, the drink has already become a rage among the customers. The name of the drink caught the attention of Lakshmi Priya, a customer, while glancing at the menu and she immediately ordered one for herself.

She said, “Anyone who loves Rajnikanth is going to love it. It has a touch of Madras. It’s good. Always good to have a drink that pleases your mind and it has Rajnikanth, so it’s awesome”.

Kaala hits the screens on June 7 and Tamil Nadu is not leaving any stone unturned in welcoming their beloved Thalaivar on the big screen.
