Sonam Kapoor’s Veere Di Wedding and Harshvardhan Kapoor’s Bhavesh Joshi Superhero clashing at the box-office will not be the first-of-its-kind affair. In the past too, Bollywood has witnessed clashes between siblings.

June 1 will see the clash between siblings at the box-office. While on one hand, Sonam Kapoor’s Veere Di Wedding will make it to the theatres, on the other, her brother Harshvardhan Kapoor will arrive in the cinemas with Bhavesh Joshi Superhero. The former is a female buddy comedy film, the latter a dystopian vigilante film. Both the films cater to different audiences and it is less likely that they will eat into each other’s businesses.
But a clash, after all, is a clash. From trade pundits to fans, everyone is looking forward to the box-office verdicts of Veere Di Wedding and Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, more so because they have been pittied against each other.
But this, ladies and gentlemen, is not the first time when siblings will be face-to-face at the box-office. In the not-so-distant past, Bollywood has been witness to such clashes. Take a look:
When Mohit Marwah’s Raag Desh had to battle against Arjun Kapoor’s Mubarakan
Yes, Mohit Marwah had to battle it out with cousin Arjun Kapoor at the box-office. The former’s Raag Desh and the latter’s Mubarakan were released on the same day – July 28, 2017. Bearing the brunt of zero hype, Raag Desh fell flat at the box-office earning a miniscule Rs 65 lac. Mubarakan, on the other hand, went on to collect Rs 55.59 crore in its lifetime run and was termed a hit. (Veere Di Wedding not a film we should be ashamed of, says Ekta Kapoor)
When cousins Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra faced each other at the box-office
Priyanka Chopra-starrer Zanjeer and Shuddh Desi Romance, starring her cousin Parineeti Chopra, released on September 6, 2013. The former, owing to poor reviews, turned out to be a super flop with lifetime collections of Rs 13 crore. The latter, however, was received pretty well by the audience and made over Rs 46 crore at the box-office.
