India’s smashing win against Kenya in the third match of the Hero Intercontinental Cup at Football Arena in Mumbai is being hailed across the country. While the first half of the game saw no goals from either side, courtesy the rain, the second half turned out to be a game-changer for India. Captain Sunil Chhetri’s two goals and Jeje Lalpekhlua’s one goal ensured an easy victory for the Indian side.

Ever since India’s great show, #SunilChhetri and #TeamIndia are amongst the top trends on Twitter, which speaks volumes about the the kind of support the football team is receiving on the social media.

After the epic win, Sunil Chhetri posted a heartfelt message on Twitter. The skipper wrote, “We promise you that if that’s the kind of  support we get every time we play for the country, we will give our lives on the pitch. India, this night was special because we were in this together. Those in the stands shouting, and the ones at home cheering – thank you!”

The Indian defence line contained the initiatives by Kenya thereby reducing the deficit and keeping the Kenyan forwards at bay. In the Hero Intercontinental Cup, India’s next is against New Zealand on June 7.
