Shukla, claimed to be a big fan of the victim, came to Mumbai two weeks ago to meet her. “Shukla was tracked with the help of the mobile number that he has used to send abusive and lewd text messages to the victim. He is an unemployed man who claimed that he managed to get hold of the victim’s number through online search engine. He has made at least two phone calls and sent two abusive and lewd text messages to the victim,” said a police officer of the Amboli police station.
Shukla even managed to get details of the victim’s whereabouts at Lokhandwala in Andheri (West) and kept a watch at her staying downstairs outside the residential premise. In the complaint, the victim’s mother said, “My daughter was annoyed after she repeatedly got miss calls from unknown stalker. The matter worsened when the accused started sending abusive and lewd messages.”
Police said the victim’s mother registered the case after Shukla made threat calls that he will cross the limit of harming her daughter if she does not meet him. “Shukla claimed that he came to Mumbai two weeks ago after he managed to get details of the victim and her mobile number,” said the police.
Shukla has been booked under the Indian Penal Code sections 354 (D) (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
