ASUS ZenFone 5Q mid-range Android Oreo phone now available in US

One of the smartphones ASUS unveiled during Mobile World Congress 2018, the ZenFone Q5, is now available to purchase in the United States. As we previously explained, the Q5 is basically a “Lite” version of the ZenFone 5 model, one sporting a traditional (read: notch-free) design. The phone was announced alongside the ZenFone 5 and 5Z models.

The ZenFone 5Q features a 6-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160 x 1080 resolution. Despite its mid-tier price, the handset has some notable features, including a dual rear camera with 16-megapixel resolutions.

The front-facing dual-cameras have a greater resolution at 20-megapixels, which is paired with a wide-angle lens to make for a selfie-centric handset.

Android users tired of the iPhone X imitation will be pleased to know the ZenFone Q5, unlike the other two models mentioned above, doesn’t have a notch; the bezels are very slim, too. There’s 64GB of internal storage, a fingerprint reader, microSD card slot, and 4GB of memory. Rounding it out is a 3300mAh battery and dual nano SIM slots.

Under the hood lies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core 2.2GHz Mobile Platform, offering enough power to meet the average needs of the average consumer. Other notable features include the presence of phase detection auto focus for the rear camera, NFC, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The handset runs Android Oreo.

The phone is offered unlocked in black and white from Amazon and several other online retailers for a variety of carriers, including Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular in the US. The handset is priced at $299 USD.
