Andhra Pradesh police arrested five minor boys from Punganur town in Chittoor district on Thursday, for allegedly raping a 12-year old girl over the last two months. According to the police report, the boys aged 16-17 years, lived near the girl’s house. They first trapped the girl in their neighborhood by offering her chocolates and allegedly raped her. Subsequently, they repeated the offence several times by threatening that they would kill her, if she revealed about this crime to anybody.
Punganur inspector of police P Sainath informed to media, “ The case has been booked under Section 376 (Rape) of Indian Penal Code, besides relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.”
Unable to bear the torture, on Wednesday, the girl narrated the sexual abuse to her mother. Following this, angry locals caught the minor boys and dragged them out of their houses, before reportedly thrashing them and handing them over to the police.
The boys were produced before a local court and subsequently shifted to juvenile home after judicial remand. They belong to Bhagat Singh Nagar in Punganur. Two of the accused are studying in class VII, one is in class X, one boy is in intermediate whereas one is illiterate. All the boys live in the girl’s neighbourhood and their parents work as porters.
The girl belongs to a poor family. Her father died long ago and her mother is a labourer.
The police also said, “The boys were addicted to watch porn on their mobile.”
Recently we have also reported that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) worker of Dachepalli village was arrested for raping a 14-year-old girl several times in four months. Earlier in the same month, a 55-year-old rickshaw-puller, named A Subbaiah, allegedly raped a minor girl at Dachepalli in Guntur district.
Calling for publicly hanging the rapists, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister ChandrababuNaidu has said his government would be tough in dealing with such criminals. There would be no place for such people in the state. Man should live like man not like beast.
